I agree with this blog about Turbo Tax.  Turbo Tax is the Tax software I use and have for many years.  I have never heard of complete tax or 24 hour tax before.  H&R Block is popular as well, but most people that I know who use them go to the mall or one of those H&R locations that pop up around this time of year.

Shoeboxed Receipts is the biggest time saver I have ever used.  Its great for small businesses and business travelers.  I the cheapest and most useful services I have ever used. Shoeboxed scans in your receipts and business cards, making them available to you online.  You simply send in your receipts and business cards and then scan them in for you.  Once they are scanned in you can access them online.  Never lose a receipt again, never have a receipt fade so much that you can’t read it when it comes to the end of the year,  and you will always have a digital copy.  Its IRS accepted, and you can send your receipts to Quickbooks, Excel, PDF, Quicken, Freshbooks, Outright.com and Evernote.   The business cards can be sent to your contact manager such as Outlook.  Really have to think about this service.  I save so much time not having to go through my receipts and I never lose any, I just mail them in once a month.  When its tax time I send the file to my accountant.  My contact Manager is organized!!  If you think its cheaper to do it yourself, your wrong.  I’ve been trying for years.  I have a Cardscan Scanner and a receipt scanner.  Total cost for equipment alone was probably around $400 bucks. Trying to stay on top of it and doing has taken hours and never gets done!  Shoeboxed pricing ranges from $10 - $50 per month.  Think about it, how much would you pay your secretary in hourly wages to sort through your receipts and business cards??  It would probably take a secretary or assistant at least a day to do a months scanning and organizing.  I’m pretty sure its illegal to pay your secretary or assistant $10-$50 for a full days work.  Shoeboxed $9.95 plan gives you 50 items per month, and 250 receipts and Business cards to catch up on a yearly plan.   Shoeboxed $19.95 plan gets you 150 items per month, 500 catch up and includes free postage.  The $50 plan includes 500 items per month, and 1000 catch up and free postage.  All plans include free uploading, but why bother its easier to send it in.  Check out the Shoeboxed coupons and Shoeboxed offers at savingsheadquarters.com.  You can’t go wrong with this service.  I have friends that use it for business cards alone.

Tax filling deadline is fast approaching for Canadians.  No need to panic just get online, e-file and get it done.  Theres several companies that you can go with or you can go pick up the tax software package at your local Staples store.  Online offerings are fantastic, easy and cheaper!!!  Both QuickTax and Turbo Tax are great options.   QuickTax and Turbo Tax offer quick e-file and returns within 9 days, both QuickTax and Turbo Tax offer Free editions for individuals with simple taxes, and both QuickTax and Turbo Tax let you prepare your taxes for free prior to paying.  I actually used both packages and ended up choosing with Turbo Tax.  It provided me with a greater tax return amount even with the slightly higher cost of Turbo Tax.   They both claim that they are the number one Tax software, so take your pick.  Check out QuickTax products here,  and/or  Turbo Tax here.

Tax Time still knocking on the door.  I just found a how to get a free copy of Turbo Tax Deluxe 2008.  Savingsheadquarters.com offers a ton of great coupons, but if you scroll to the bottom you will find a free stuff section.  Here’s the direct  link to their free stuff.  Under the software section I found tax software and you can get a free copy of Turbo Tax Deluxe.  Only for American users.  I haven’t looked the through the other free offers, but I will once I get through my taxes.  I did a quick web search and the reviews are good for users of the free Turbo Tax version with many users stating that they have used it for years with good returns and no problems.  It probably won’t suit you if you have complicated taxes, but should be more then sufficient for most users.  Save yourself the 30 bucks or so and get the free version at savingsheadquarters.com
