While doing my homework for a wearable camera, gopro is the best camera from the feedback that I have read on the web.  There are a few that I found that shot some pretty good videos based on the sample video posted but the thing that separates the Gopro HD camera is it’s ability to mount everywhere.  Other helmet cameras shoot equal quality video and some are even smaller then the Gopro HD Camaras, but the kicker in my opinion is the mounting options.  Go with the Gopro camera if your in the market for a wearable sports camera.

Well it looks like if you were planning on getting a Gopro SD Hero 170 for the holidays you are now officially out of luck.  They are temporarily out of stock again.  They are providing no date, so if your buying a Gopro Camera for yourself or for gifts go with the Gopro HD Hero 960.  It’s only $79 bucks more and not a bad option.  Gopro HD Hero 960 is in stock and great deal at $179.

Gopro essentially offer three cameras.  Gopro offers the Gopro Hero Wide standard def cameras, the almost HD Gopro HD Hero 960 that shoots at 960p not 1080p and the Gopro HD Hero cameras that shoot at full 1080p.  The different versions available for the Gopro Hero Wide and Gopro HD Hero cameras are the basic camera, the Motorsports version and the Helmet Hero.   There is also a Surf hero version for the Gopro HD Hero. The choice is your preference on what mounts you require, however if you pick one, you can order additional mounts that allow you to pretty much use your gopro camera anywhere.  There is no question that for the hardcore people the full Gopro HD Hero is a must.  For those posting and sharing most of their videos online then the Gopro HD Hero 960 is by far the best value.  Its only $29 more then SD def Gopro Motorsports Wide and Gopro Helmet hero wide. For holiday gifts the best choice is probably the Gopro HD Hero 960.  You will not go wrong with any model, they are all fantastic but your wallet may not agree.

My stupid waterproof testing of the Gopro.  Fist off this camera has made me do things I don’t normally do, just to see how well it works.  The good thing about this is the bonding time I have with my son during testing.  My son loves his Gopro camera and we are on our third one.  The gopro cameras are not indestructible.  They are shockproof and extremely rugged. Trust me when I tell the damage to the first two were no fault of the cameras.  Our Gopro have never had a problem with water and have worked perfectly in the rain and in the water, but I felt it wasn’t a good enough test for waterproofing.  So I hooked the gopro to my creepy crawler. I ended up getting busy and forgetting about it for two days.  Yanked it out and of course the battery was dead.  Charged it up and pulled the footage.  FYI its the most boring footage I have ever seen, a lot of blue.
