I just heard that when the Gopro HD Hero 960 launches this fall, that there may also be an Gopro LCD screen accessory that is going to be launched. If you are a current owner of a Gopro, you can currently get an aftermarket LCD Screen. I do not recall the name(will locate and post) of the one I saw, but I do remember that it was priced at $500 bucks. I recall the price because who wants to pay that much for a LCD screen. That’s more then double of my standard def Gopro Hero Camera and almost double the price of my Gopro HD Hero camera. If the Gopro Hero cameras had an LCD screen, I would probably use it for a quick view of what I just recorded, but not at that cost of $500. If you don’t own a Gopro because it has no view screen, I assure you that you don’t need it. The Gopro HD hero camera quality is amazing, and mounts better then any other wearable cameras I’ve seen and used. Hope what I heard is true and Gopro launches are Gopro LCD Screen Accessory. I would be happy with the price range of no more then $99.
Just wanted to comment on the Men’s Journal Gear of the Year award for the Gopro Helmet Hero Camera. I actually just read it and I agree its one of the best helmet cameras on the market. I’m really excited to see the Gopro HD 960 model that will be launching this fall. Its suppose to be priced around $180, so the price point is awesome. The Gopro HD 960 wont be full 1080p HD, but it will be close at 960p. I still use a Gopro helmet hero wide that’s standard def, and its perfect in my opinion. No one has ever commented on poor video quality and it only cost $149, so you can’t beat that. I’ve take probably hundred videos with it and don’t see a need for the HD version at this point. Its perfect because I send most of my videos by email or just post online. May consider the Gopro HD 960 when it launches.
For al the bikers out there you can get yourself a Gopro Hero Camera and easily attach it to your bike with the Gopro Ride Hero. The Ride Hero costs only $19.99 and it lets you mount your gopro camera to your handlebars or seat post. It handles any tubes and/or tube frames that range in diameter from .75″ to 1.4″. The gopro mount is quick release for your GoPro Camera and has a pivoting arm for 3 way adjustability. Its fully compatible with the motorsports hero wide, surf hero, wide hero and the helmet hero cameras. Total setup cost if you don’t already have a Gopro Camera is only $119.99. That’s $99 for the Gopro Wide Hero Camera and $19.99 for the Ride Hero.
Coming this fall is the Gopro HD Hero 960. It will be the new edition to the gopro HD hero camera lineup. Based on what I can tell it will be just about the same as the other Gorpo HD hero cameras, but it will be 960p. It’s expected to be priced around $180-$200. If it comes out at $200 it will be about $50 cheaper then the current Gopro HD Hero Naked. For the drop in price you will lose some quality. Current HD Hero camera models can record in 1080p while the the Hero 960 will only record up to 960p. It will be extremely popular like all the other Gopro cameras, but I’m not waiting for the fall to get one for the savings. Especially if you have some great trips planned for the end of the summer. No exact date has been released, nor have exact specs from what I can find.
Gopro owners who do not have a Gopro HD Hero camera, can convert their gopro camera into a wrist hero for $39. It looks like Gopro has got rid of the Wrist hero camera, but they now have for $39 a Gopro hero wrist housing for the SD gopro and the Gopro Hero Wide. The housing looks like a redesign and much more comfortable then the wrist hero itself. The Gopro housing for the Gopro HD Hero Cameras are coming soon. According to their site late summer 2010, so it should be any day now. The housing is waterproof up to 100ft or 30m. You will find it under the products / gopro additional mounts section.
